Prov. 1:31-33

NOW THEY MUST EAT THE FRUIT OF THEIR OWN WAY,
AND WITH THEIR OWN DEVICES BE GLUTTED.
FOR THE SELF-WILL OF THE SIMPLE KILLS THEM,
AND THE SMUGNESS OF FOOLS DESTROYS THEM.
BUT HE WHO OBEYS ME DWELLS IN SECURITY, IN PEACE,
WITHOUT FEAR OF HARM.
Prov. 1:31-33

I always thought that people did not obey God because they did not hear his voice or because they did not know Him. But it is not true. Truth is we love our self-will.
I myself love self-will.
What I want, when I want it, because I want it and the way I want it...just because, it is my will.

Have you ever noticed this attitude in others? It is so much easier to see such things in others; for some strange reason it is hard for us to see it in us. But just press somebody a bit...when they are trying to take a decision. And you ask for a good reason...very often they get mad, and say "well, ...mmm...just because!" They act ofended at the thought that you actually wanted a better reason than their self-will.
Now that you have the picture think a moment about the last time you did that. That you had no real reason for something...only your self-will...

Smug- self-satisfied, complacent.

Complacence- 1. contented self-satisfaction
2. Lack of concern.

"A smug bug" was part of a children's story book, it pictured a chuby caterpillar swinging on a leaf as if the leaf were a hammock.
Smug can be a positive word, but in the context here it is a negative word. it is saying:
BECAUSE you lack concern, because you are contented with yourself, because you are satisfied with your self, with who you are and what is in your heart...YOU WILL BE DESTROYED.

NEVER feel satisfied with what God has done in your heart so far, always push for more...always ask for more...always seek God's discipline. As long as we are in these corrupted situation we should always be concerned with what is happening in our hearts.

Remember: "Do not be a smug bug!!!! YOU ARE MEANT TO BE TRANSFORMED...
to become a butterfly and then fly!"
