Galatians 6:9

LET US NOT GROW TIRED; FOR IN DUE SEASON
WE SHALL REAP IF WE DO NOT RELAX. THEREFORE,
WHILE WE HAVE TIME, LET US DO GOOD TO ALL MEN
BUT ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO ARE OF THE
HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH.
GALATIANS 6:9

Let me add one more verse:
For he who plows should plow in hope,
and he who threshes, in hope of partaking
of the fruits.
I Cor. 9:10

Reap, plow, thresh- all concepts of agriculture. For city people it is hard to relly grasp such concepts.
We have images of movies or cartoons where the farmer goes out into the field and throws the seeds on the land...and later on he just collects all the fruits.

I have been doing some gardening. That was part of my homework last year. I worked a lot outside. You know what I found out? IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE!!!

First important lesson: If you want 5 sunflower plants...you had better plant at least 20. If you have extra then you can sell them or give them away...IF you have extra. Chances are slim that you will. Thing is a seed is tiny, it has to grow and in the process it must overcome all sorts of enemies. Too much sun, rain or hail, or not enough rain, insects...they can eat your whole crop in a minute! belive me I often wondered how we are able to have so much fruit and vegetables in the market!!!

Now lets forget about the plants and lets talk about people. Don't you ever get tired of being nice to people? It can get frustrating, right?
You invest in a relationship. You give time, money, effort, presents, phone calls, letters... and you expect to reap some fruit. In reality you expect some good fruit, but you at least hope for some fruit.
Is this bad? Is it bad to expect fruit from your labor? Nope. I just chose two verses, but there are many more that give the same principal. You sow, plant, care for the plant in hope of getting a harvest.
It is not bad. but we must be aware that not all the seeds will produce a harvest. Many, many, many will die, leaving you without any fruit. Leaving you empty handed and hungry.
So, if your crop was destroyed by the locust, do you stop planting? No. You prepare the land again, and plant again. Hard work. But if you don´t give up, if you plant many seeds... you will get fruit...sooner or later. Part of the trick is that you will learn along the way how to plant, where to plant, when to plant, how much to plant etc. etc
As you keep at it you will become an expert,by and by you will get bigger and better fruit.
So you have been hurt. You have invested in relationships and they have died without bearing fruit. I recommend that you dont give up, continue to plant- someday you will reap. Perhaps you will invest in a thousand people and you will only make one friend. Believe me that one friend will be the plant that will produce a hundred fold. And you willl say: It was worthwhile!
but if you give up, you will miss the chance of finding that one friend...don´t give up!

Now, my friend that was to encourage you to continue giving and sharing yourself with those around you, at the same time I encourage you to learn who to give to, how much, when, and where etc. But I do not want to stop there.
I want to take advantage of the pain and the frustration you feel for having given so much and having received so little in exchange, to make you consider and perhaps open your eyes into God´s own heart, to His very pain, to His own frustration...of giving His life, His blood, His time, His instruction, His word, His love, His care, His sunsets, His songs...and reaping so little or nothing at all.
Bea, does God really expect something in return?
He has planted, He expects a harvest.
You know what we usually avoid to mention? The verse which states that the tree that bears bad fruit will be cut off and thrown out.
There are different verses that mention this, in the Old testament and in the New Testament. I will share one:
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is
cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mat. 7:19

Yes, dearest friend. God does expect a harvest.
He expects you as a friend.
No matter how busy you are.
No matter how hurt and dissappointed you feel, sweet friend of mine...remember He is your friend and He also expects you to set aside appointments in order to meet with Him, He also expects you to desire His company, He also feels hurt when you get so busy that you forget to at least give Him a call.

Just had to say it.
My friend, don´t forget to give Jesus a call.
