What is the Bible anyway?

I believe most people have no clue as to what it is. I remember a time when a young missionary was working with kids in the outskirts of Puebla. He raised His Bible in the air and boldly asked, "Do you know what makes this book different from all the other books?"
A little boy answered without hesitation:
"Of course! It is the zipper!"

Yes, the young man´s Bible was covered in black leather and had a zipper.
You may be laughing at the little boy´s answer. But, let me ask you...Do you know what makes the Bible a different book from all the others?

No, I mean...stop, consider the question, don´t give me a half memorized answer. An answer that you picked up from somebody else who probably had half memorized it himself.
Have you ever read the Bible?
Have you read portions of it, or have you read it whole?
Have you read it several times each year?

Have you read the Bible?

Depending on your closeness to it, your answer will vary.

Sadly, for most it is a mysterious and terryfing book.
For many others it is a boring book.
Yet others argue it is a limitating book.
Even though all christians will agree it is a God insipired book.

Funny how we contradict ourselves:
Do you think God inspired the Bible? Yes.
Do you believe it is living water? Yes.
Do you read it? No. It is boring.

So this is the reason for this blog.
I am a teacher.
I read the Bible.
I will try to teach you, how incredible, and amazing it is to read the Bible.
It is not my objective to enter theological changes of any sort.
I will only speak on my own reflections as I turn the pages of my own Bible, in hope that you will be lured into opening your own Bible.

The passage in the book of Acts where Phillip asked the Ethiopian if he understood what he was reading (Isaiah) comes to my mind. His answer has always impressed me a lot.
"why, how can I, unless someone shows me?"
Acts 8:31

I pray the time I spend sitting in front of this computer may be fruitfull. Phillip sat down next to the Ehiopian and shared Jesus beginning from that passge. The Ethiopian saw some water and asked to be baptized.
This is my hope as I sit and write.
May God give us ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to understand.
I write in His love,
